The Chinese Volkswagen ID.4 X has elongated headlights and a logo that would not pass in Europe

China will probably be the only market where ID.4 will also be sold in variant X. The reason is simple, both Volkswagen joint ventures in China wanted to produce a fundamental innovation. While the ID.4 Crozz will take over the FAW-VW, the ID.4 X will roll off the belts of the SAIC-VW.

Version ID.4 X has elongated headlights, a different stern, including the lamps or a different front bumper with a distinctive horizontal line. It is also 20 millimeters longer.

Volkswagen has so far shared the first information and photo gallery for the new models, the technical details will be published later. In Europe, several drive variants are gradually entering the market. A 150 kW (204 hp) version with rear-wheel drive is currently on sale, with a set of batteries with a usable capacity of 77 kWh. Up to 520 km can be traveled on a single charge according to the WLTP methodology.

From the point of view of design, both Chinese variants have two trifles that do not pass the regulations of the European Union. The logos on the bow and stern light up, which is banned in Europe.

According to Novinky, in the first stages of development, they considered something similar for the European market in Mladá Boleslav for Škoda Enyaq. Rolls-Royce then recently reacted retroactively, the backlit statues on the hoods of the cars are additionally switched off with the proviso that “backlit bonnet decorations are not permitted by the Euro-EU type-approval process for vehicles as a whole”.
