Jeddah: Chinese President Xi Jinping’s three-day visit to Saudi Arabia, accepted by King Salman, will begin on Wednesday.

A Saudi-Chinese summit will be held in the presence of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Amir Mohammed bin Salman during his visit which runs until Friday. The Arab Gulf Cooperation Council countries and moves to strengthen special ties with China will also unfold during the tour. The heads of state of the Gulf and of the Arab countries will participate in the summit.

The two summits will discuss ways to improve joint relations in all sectors and opportunities for economic and development cooperation. During the Saudi-Chinese summit, contracts worth more than 110 billion riyals will be signed.

Three summits will be held during the visit of the Chinese president: Saudi-Chinese, Chinese-Gulf and Chinese-Arab. The summit will be attended by leaders from more than 30 countries and international organizations.

More than 20 contracts worth 110 billion riyals will be signed as part of the Saudi-Chinese summit. In addition, Saudi Arabia and China will sign a strategic partnership document in various fields. The “Amir Mohammed bin Salman Award” for cultural cooperation between Saudi Arabia and China will also be announced.

Previously, the Chinese president visited Saudi Arabia in January 2016. During that visit, 14 MoUs were signed between Saudi Arabia and China. King Salman wore the country’s highest decoration, “King Abdul Aziz Mala” (necklace) to the Chinese president.
