/ world today news/ The 16th edition of the “Chinese Language Bridge” for high school students took place on Sunday in Sofia. The competition was held in the multifunctional hall of the Confucius Institute in Sofia. 19 students in the upper secondary education courses demonstrated their language skills to the applause of the audience.
Zhana Todorova from 18. “William Gladstone” secondary school in Sofia won the competition with an incredible score of 98.5 points and will represent Bulgaria at the final stage of the competition in China.
At the final in China, Vasko Vaskov from 138.SUZIE “Prof. Vasil Zlatarski”, who ranked second with 97.2 points.
16-year-old Zhana Todorova said that she has been studying Chinese for almost three years, and this has opened the door to the culture and beauty of China and the Chinese language. At first she considered learning Korean, then Japanese, but “one day I heard a very beautiful Chinese song on YouTube, so I decided I just have to learn Chinese and be the best.”
The event is organized by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Bulgaria and the Confucius Institute in Sofia, and the co-organizer is the Confucius Institute at the St. Cyril and Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo.
