The premiere of the new generation Ford Mondeo for the Chinese market immediately raised the question of whether the car will arrive in Europe. We already know the answer to it.

The Ford Mondeo has long paid for one of the middle class standards. But interest in such cars in Europe is declining, specifically since 2000, middle-class sales have fallen by about 80%, and so Ford has announced that Mondee’s successor will change the concept and become a crossover. However, when the new generation of Mondea debuted on the Chinese market, which retained the classic concept, began to speculate whether such a car would not reach Europe.
But Ford himself abandoned such speculation at the outset. “The Mondeo model introduced on Monday is really intended exclusively for the Chinese market, it will not appear in the offer of the European Ford,” says Petr Burián, PR of the Czech Ford brand.
But what are Ford’s next plans for European markets in the middle class, but Burián did not reveal. “Unfortunately, I can’t comment on future product plans at this time,” he says.
Given the possible replacement of today’s Mondeo by some crossover in the past speculated about the arrival of the Evos model, which also made its debut in China last year. It is a car with an elevated construction combining elements of an SUV and a station wagon, so it would exactly meet the definition of a crossover. Last year, however, word came from Ford’s European headquarters that Evos would not arrive on the old continent in this (Chinese) form.
At the same time, the current Mondeo has only a short career ahead of it. A year ago, Ford announced that production of the current Mondea generation for Europe would end in March 2022. The future of the brand in the middle class could thus be revealed in the next few weeks.
However, those interested in the current Mondea generation have already missed their chance. Although production is just over, all cars for the Czech market have already been dismantled. “The stock of the Mondeo model is no longer available, the remaining volume of production in the case of the Czech market is only sold customer cars,” said Burián.
