Ambassador Xie Feng said in his speech that the Florida legislature recently banned Chinese students from entering public university laboratories. Every month, dozens of Chinese students are denied entry to the United States or deported despite having valid visas and no criminal record. “This is absolutely unacceptable. The Chinese side expresses its formal opposition to the relevant policies of the United States and will continue to resolutely protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens.”
The ambassador added that the politicization of educational exchange and collaboration would result in the loss of many highly skilled talents, endangering the United States’ own research environment and the vitality of innovation.
