Herman Flesvig’s children’s book on his upbringing and ADHD sells most books in Norway, regardless of gender.
The book “Herman: Stories of an undiagnosed upbringing” was written in collaboration with Erlend Loe – and was at the top of the children’s book list for two weeks in a row.
Now the Association of Book Sellers confirms that it is also at the top of the list of all books sold in Norway, regardless of genre.
This means that Herman Flesvig is currently selling more than bestselling authors such as Jo Nesbø, Jørn Lier Horst, Roy Jacobsen and Nina Lykke.

Publisher Bonnier says the first edition of 17,000 books sold out in just over a week.
– The demand in bookstores is huge, so we have now printed 20,000 new books that are about to hit stores, CEO Alexander Even Henriksen tells Bonnier.
Herman: – Thanks
Herman Flesvig thinks it’s a great honor that the book is selling so well.
– And it’s incredibly nice that the book reaches exactly the people I had in mind when we wrote it. The finding is that adults read it with children and that schools buy it as a gift for all staff.
– I am very grateful for that. This has been a pivotal project from the very beginning, Flesvig tells VG.
At the same time as the children’s book came out at the end of October, the star of “The First Service” also confirmed that he is himself. he became a father.
Experienced writer Erlend Loe is also happy with 1st place.
– I have been writing books for almost 30 years and I know that it doesn’t happen very often to be at the top of the sales lists. So I like it, says Loe.
He is particularly happy that the topic is reaching a large audience.
– For me, writing a book with Herman has been a great process and it makes me happy that his honesty and openness about something that is difficult for many is something that people want, says Erlend Loe.
Loe has also released another book that is selling very well this fall: in October, he and Lisa Aisato sold the reinterpretation of Charles Dickens. “A Christmas Story” most of all books, according to the Booksellers Association.
pst! The book that tops the official bestseller list for general literature this week is “The whole story” by Therese Johaug, while “Podus: 21 års gränse” by Frode Øverli is at the top the list of novels. But according to the Association of Book Sellers, the Children’s Book on Herman sells more than these, it just doesn’t come out as the children’s books are separated into a separate list. When all the lists are combined, “Herman” is at the top of the list.
