The children were injured by syringes. The boy fell on her, the little girl had her in her shoe!

During June, police officers in Brno dealt with several events, which are all the more worrying because the children have just started the holidays and will be more out. Several preschoolers and older children were injured by discarded syringes.

“A five-year-old boy was injured by a syringe near the Zábrdovice kindergarten and had to go to the Children’s Hospital for an examination with his mother,” Jakub Ghanem, a spokesman for the Brno city police, described the first case.

A group of older boys were playing again in Židenická street Pod sídlištěm, when one of them tripped, fell and a thrown needle stabbed him in the leg.

In Řečkovice, a two-year-old girl complained to her mother that her shoe was pushing. She had a syringe stuck in it, which went on for professional analysis to be sure.

At the same time, the director of the city police, Luboš Oprchal, praised the two children who found injection needles at their schools and proceeded in an exemplary manner – independently of each other. They did not touch the syringes, picked up the phone, and dialed line 156.

“They described exactly where they were and agreed with the police to wait for them to arrive to make it easier for them to find them. We recommended exactly this procedure on the illustrated information cards that the police attached to playgrounds and sent to schools and kindergartens,” he said. He showered.

Brno police officers collect syringes all year round, but at the beginning of this summer vacation they took to the streets en masse. Together with their Prague colleagues, in 2015 they also initiated the creation of the nationwide Jehla event, which has been running for five years.
