The attorney general Ivan Geshev has submitted a request to remove the immunity of a representative of the 48th National Assembly, informs the Prosecutor’s Office.
The people’s representative has the initials DA
The chief prosecutor has asked for permission to continue the criminal proceedings against the national representative, which leads to criminal responsibility for a crime of a general nature.
With sentence of 17.10.2022, the Sofia Court suspended the criminal proceedings against DA pursuant to art. 25, paragraph 1, point 3 of the code of civil procedure – for the acquisition of parliamentary immunity.
YES. is prosecuted for trafficking in influence (offense pursuant to art. 304b, paragraph 1, in conjunction with articles 26, paragraphs 1 and 20, paragraph 2, of the criminal code).
The prosecution of the criminal proceedings against the national representative is possible only with the authorization of the National Assembly or with the written consent of the DA, in accordance with the provisions of art. 70 of the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria and pursuant to art. 135, para. 3, cf. 1 of the Regulations for the organization and activities of the National Assembly, we read in the press release.
