On the program: a night trail of 10 kilometers – which will be run this Saturday (7:30 p.m.) – and the two races on Sunday morning, the 20 and 10 kilometers (departure at 9 a.m. and 9:20 a.m.). This sixth edition thus regains good participation: nearly 700 runners are expected at the start of the three events at the Orok Bat stadium in Blancpignon.
A disputed 10 km
At the level of the routes, the organizers had to deal with some prohibitions: “Impossible to find the original route in the heart of the massif, specifies Stéphan Ségoviano. We weren’t allowed on certain areas but we did everything to keep the essence of this course in the forest. The spirit is preserved with: multiple changes in elevation and rolling parts cut by small, short but steep embankments”, continues the organization which has managed to keep the trails nervous. The terrain promises to be rather dry on sandy soils, which promises a fast run.
The 10 kilometers scheduled for this Sunday promises to be contested with Valentin Lamolere – who is coming out of the winter cross-country season – and an unexpected rival, Elian Pergher, who created a surprise last year by standing up to the favorite Guillaume Levoy. This young Angloy, student in Bordeaux, signed his first podium for his debut in competition: “I had to work in the last kilometer to beat him, conceded the Bayonnais, who will be absent this year. As I leave the crosses, I cut to prepare the appointment of Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle. Indeed, in 15 days, the Senpereko will open the big trail season for good. The Chibertrail thus offers a final warm-up in the plain before climbing the mountains.
