In fact, it turns out that this is a tradition that has been around since way back in 1434. Then the first Christmas market appeared in Dresden, Germany. That is why the country is considered the birthplace of the Christmas market. Over the years, this tradition has spread to other places in the world and continues to this day. Visiting a Christmas market abroad, however, can be quite an expensive pleasure, because in addition to ticket prices, we have to add costs for overnight stays, food, etc.

Bratislava has been ranked as the top destination for UK tourists looking for a bargain break around the holidays and Christmas markets. The Slovak capital was found to have the lowest prices for a two-night package holiday for two people out of 14 European destinations analyzed by Post Office Travel Money.
Bratislava’s total of £510 is almost half that of Denmark’s Copenhagen – the most expensive destination analysed, where the same items cost £989.
Nine of the 10 cheapest places for a Christmas market were found to be in Eastern Europe, with Vilnius, Lithuania in second place and Latvia’s Riga in third. Airfare increases amid limited capacity on some routes meant overall holiday prices fell in just three of the 11 destinations also surveyed in 2023.
