Jakarta –
The cheapest car in Indonesia is currently still in the low cost green car (LCGC) segment. The cheapest model is the Ayla 1.0 DM/T. Although it is the most economical in the pocket than other variants, it does not guarantee that it will be the best seller.
Quoted from wholesales data (factory distribution to dealers) of the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), LCGC car sales during January – June 2022 have reached 76,802 units. Specifically for June 2022, 17,747 units of LCGC have been distributed, which is the highest achievement this year.
The top three best-selling LCGCs are the Honda Brio Satya EA/T with 12,017 units, the Toyota Calya 1.2 GA/T distributed with 11,524 units, and the Daihatsu Sigra 1.2 RM/T with a total of 9,076 units.

Meanwhile, for the Ayla 1.0 DM/T model in the first half of 2022, only 8 units have been distributed. This variant is the cheapest LCGC currently at a price of Rp. 110 million.
However, the low price offered has an impact on its features. This car is fairly simple both in terms of appearance and completeness of its features. Indeed, the Ayla 1.0 DM/T variant is not yet equipped with AC and radio.
There is also a 1.0 D+ variant, this variant when viewed from the outside is still similar to 1.0 DM/T because both have not received a facial refresh. It’s just that this variant is equipped with Air Conditioner (AC), power windows, and power door locks. The price is only a difference of Rp. 12.5 million. With this provision, sales reached 1,800 units in the first half of 2022.
If viewed cumulatively, Daihatsu Ayla is a model that attracts the Indonesian market. Throughout January – June 2022, Ayla has been distributed with a total of 9,928 units. The most shipped variants were Ayla 1.0 XM/T with 2,225 units, then Ayla 1.2 RM/T with a total of 1,925 units.
