The Châteaudun hospital is once again certified by the Haute Autorité de santé

“This is good news and in the midst of Covid-19, it is even a positive signal! “Anne Constantin, director of the Châteaudun hospital, Fabien Verdier, president of the hospital’s supervisory board, and Robert Wan, president of the establishment’s medical commission, smiled broadly on Friday afternoon, February 19. The Dunois hospital center is once again certified and the Haute Autorité de Santé (HAS) has awarded it a B rating.

“The decision was taken at the end of January but we were informed by email only on February 12,” says Anne Constantin, who nevertheless expected this result. “I am not in the upper echelons but I had no doubts. We deserve this B and I am very satisfied. “

“A positive dynamic” created

The Châteaudun hospital had its certification withdrawn by the HAS in April 2018 due to numerous deviations from the rules of good care practices and the regulations provided for by the public health code. An exceptional measure which was taken for the first time in Eure-et-Loir and in the Center-Val de Loire region.

A screening and ophthalmological surgery unit has opened in Châteaudun

“It was very hard for the professionals, admits Anne Constantin. But it made it possible to create a positive dynamic and to have a united community. Each doctor got involved and an action plan was drawn up to improve the internal organization and continue to improve the conditions of patient care. “

The doctors were informed Monday afternoon February 15 of the overall and independent assessment of the establishment by the HAS. “It was a source of pride, a shared happiness, a decompression and a positive astonishment”, noted Anne Constantin, Fabien Verdier and Robert Wan.

“In-depth work” was carried out “in a very short period of time” to correct the major shortcomings identified by the HAS, which could have direct impacts on patient safety. “We got there and I am proud of this collective mobilization,” admits Anne Constantin. There were already good things in the hospital and corrective actions have been taken to go from E to B. This new certification is a breath of fresh air which should reassure patients who may be skeptical about seeking treatment in Châteaudun. They will no longer need to go to Paris! “

Fabien Verdier recalls that the hospital is “vital” for Châteaudun. “Everyone makes it their own. The parking lot is often full. People are coming back, notably inhabitants of Beauce, Perche and Loiret. The hospital is attractive and this new certification is further good news for the south of Eure-et-Loir. We are making good progress! “

Six recommendations for improvement

If it has already largely responded to the HAS improvement obligations, the hospital will have to continue to improve and remain mobilized. This new certification is only valid for one year and is accompanied by six recommendations for improvement concerning the management of the patient’s medication management, the management of emergencies and unscheduled care, quality management. and risks, the management of the risk of infection, the patient journey and the management of patient care in the operating room.

The Regional Health Agency says it will continue to support the Châteaudun hospital

“The idea is not to go back down but to maintain consistency and strive upwards, underline Anne Constantin and Robert Wan. We aim for the A and we can get it. Agents are feeling the growth of wings with this new certification. It’s awesome ! ”

Projects. Long awaited, the work relating to the emergency department, the heliport and the pharmacy of the Châteaudun hospital center will begin in 2022. “The project management is underway and the Regional Health Agency (ARS) is has granted significant financial assistance of 2.5 million euros, “said director Anne Constantin yesterday, who has” a lot “of projects. “The ophthalmologic screening and surgery unit, open since March 2020, is always full. It responds to a territorial need that is not covered and even attracts doctors from the Quinze-Vingts national ophthalmology hospital! We are therefore going to develop this service. The laser has just arrived and we will be offering a full offer from May to also accommodate babies and children. There is a demand and we want to meet it. “
