Summer is fast approaching and the sunny days are already here. For hundreds of tourists, it’s time to book their next vacation.
For this new season, the Chartres campsite is offering them new accommodation. And the stars of the summer are the ecolodges:
“We have installed four of these wooden accommodations on the campsite. The construction of the ecolodges was completed on Friday, May 13. The same evening, we already had reservations for this summer. »
Philippe Rossat (director of the tourist office of Chartres metropolis)

The Chartres campsite has opted for two different models. The first is the ecologde Moorea, in the form of a tepee, which has two single beds. “I think they are more reserved for customers on bicycles, for one or two nights,” says Isabelle Mesnard, president of C’Chartres Tourisme.
The other two, called Bali, are real cabins that can accommodate five people. Ideal for holidays with family or friends. “They have two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with a bunk bed, as well as a kitchen and storage area, and a terrace,” explains Isabelle Mesnard.
“We are delighted with this novelty and people seem to be thrilled. It’s luxury and comfort, with the freedom of camping and the outdoors. »
Cost of novelties: €30,000.
How much does it cost ?
The Moorea ecolodge is priced at €39 per night, while the Bali is rented by the week for €439. “Which is also very interesting, because it means that our visitors’ passage through Chartres will be longer”, underlines Philippe Rossat.
Currently, the average number of nights spent in Chartres is three to four nights, “which is already a good improvement compared to last year and the average two nights. »
The other changes
- The reception and the living room have been completely modernized. New residents are now welcomed in a more convivial setting, in which they can find a souvenir shop and local products as well as have their breakfast.
- The sanitary facilities have been completely renovated. A space for access to people with reduced mobility has been created and soon, a nursery and a lingerie will be installed. “There hadn’t been a reservation since the 1970s”, specifies the president of C’Chartres Tourisme, “so we had to keep only the four walls and the roof, and redo everything. »
- A dozen campsites have had their ground stabilized in hard, for better parking.
- For children, the playground will be brought up to standard and equipped with new features before the summer, a life-size chessboard will be installed as well as a volleyball court. An area for playing petanque has already opened.
“We have modernized the campsite to meet the new three-star standards, which we should keep,” concludes Philippe Rossat.
