The second day of a festival is not easy. After a week of installation and an almost complete first evening, the volunteers take the time to take a break in the afternoon while the technicians are busy on the main stage and Laura Perrudin and Salami Rose Joe Louis do the soundchecks for their 9 p.m. concert. Loïc Codou, communication officer of the Charlie Jazz Festival, is very satisfied with the attendance of the first evening: “A large number of people came from very far away for some, New York, Denmark, Sweden, which will perhaps allow us to break records over the three days. A very nice evening (yesterday) with Anouar Brahem, a Tunisian oud player, who is only doing one date in France this summer before flying to Canada. The group Asynchrone also reserved their only date in France for us with a tribute to Ryuichi Sakamoto, who died last April.“
This evening, 3rd and last evening of this 25th edition accompanied once again by the song of the cicadas, (but also, alas, by the noise of the planes), with the saxophonist Emile Parisien sextet feat, Edredon Sensible, a singular Toulouse formation and offbeat, made up of four flapping, huffing guys, pianist Kenny Baron Trio and finally DJ Rebecca Vasmant. For the bar, Loïc is very happy to be able to work with local partners, La petite aixoise, on the beer side and an organic producer from Arles, the Domaine d’Attilon. Laurent came with his two daughters, Louise, 15 and Charlotte, 9: “I come from Marseille and I discovered this festival on Friday evening. Seduced I took tickets for the other two evenings and will return next year. I love jazz, happy to see Anouar Brahem again and above all an extraordinary bass player. There is something for everyone in a pleasant setting like that of Marciac, free, outside the closed rooms.
