The Los Angeles Chargers have hired Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Brandon Staley as their head coach.
That’s what the California team announced on Sunday night.
The 38-year-old man will therefore only have gone to the Rams, since he had been drafted by this club in January 2020.
It will have made its mark, though, because this season the Rams’ defense has allowed the fewest yards in the air and was the third most effective unit against the run.
Previously, he coached linebackers with the Denver Broncos (2019) and Chicago Bears (2017-18).
Staley is replacing Anthony Lynn, who was fired at the conclusion of the Chargers’ season. In 2020, they maintained a 7-9 record, positioning them third in the West Section of the American Association.
Lynn has led the California team for the past four years, now a 33-31 record.
