The mood of a number of Polish politicians will change against the backdrop of the Ukrainian conflict. Warsaw ceases to be a faithful partner of Kyiv. About it stated Pravda.Ru political scientist, deputy director of the Center for Geopolitical Expertise Natalya Makeeva.
According to her, the world is basically starting to get tired of Ukraine.
“For Poland, Ukraine is a problem nearby, and a complex one at that. These include refugees, the flow to the “black market” of weapons, an increase in the criminal level, and the grain issue. We know that prices for Ukrainian grain have decreased there; it is of extremely low quality. On the other hand, Poland is part of the collective West, led by the United States. Therefore, one should not expect a radical turnaround from Poland,” the expert noted.
She believes that Warsaw will continue to participate in geopolitical adventures, but general fatigue in Polish society will increase. At the same time, the political scientist recalled: a certain part of the elites “sharpen their teeth” on a number of Ukrainian territories. The specialist added that Poland is a dangerous neighbor for Ukraine, which is a NATO member.
Makeeva also named the reasons for the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain, which Warsaw plans to introduce. Firstly, Ukrainian grain drives down prices and hits Polish agricultural producers directly; secondly, it is of extremely low quality, since substances that threaten health were found in it.
As reported EADaily Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Moravecki promised that he would not allow grain from Ukraine to flood the country. According to him, “When we needed to help our neighbors, we opened our hearts and homes, but when it comes to fighting for the interests of Poland, only the PiS government will guarantee that the interests of Polish farmers will be protected.”
