The changes in the ZEUS give farmers a chance to apply the more convenient condition instead of rotations: Diversification-Agro Plovdiv – 2024-09-19 14:31:45

The minimum soil cover requirement covers the period June 1 – September 30

Over a hundred farmers from six regions gathered today in Plovdiv for the training campaign of the Ministry of Agriculture regarding the requirements for interventions from the Strategic Plan related to payment of area and animals. Deputy Minister Lozana Vasileva led the team of experts from the Ministry and the Agriculture Fund.

I saw that, due to ignorance of the requirements, you made mistakes when submitting applications, which deprived quite a few farmers of support under the eco schemes and interventions. We are here to help you avoid such mistakesLozana Vasileva said, stressing that there are corrections in the system of prior conditionality and in the eco schemes.

From the new area monitoring system, you are about to see areas highlighted in red, yellow and green.

The target investment measure from the RDP, which is for projects related to irrigation, is currently open. The budget is 50 million euros and we hope that there will be more applicants so that the investments can reduce water losses and your watering costs. Measure 4.2 is also open, targeting projects related to investments in environmental protection – rooftop photovoltaics, water treatment plants and othersVasileva explained.

Small farms exempted from the EU Law, but not from the conditions in the eco-schemes

For the system of preconditions, fixed in DES (good agricultural and ecological condition), it was announced that already small farms with an area of up to 10 ha will be exempted from compliance with the conditions, as well as from control and sanctions. However, they will not be exempted from the requirements under the eco schemes, for which apply.

Changes in standards

Wetlands by DES 2, which should not be treated with pesticides, fertilized and deepened have already been handed over as a map by the Ministry of Eco. The largest areas that fall there are in the Belene complex and in the Dragoman marsh in Sofia. The ministry asked the Ministry of Education and Culture to reduce the size of the wetlands, and they agreed. A second card is about to be sent. t

Standard 6which required 80% of the farm’s arable land to have a minimum soil cover, was written in a complex way. TEU 6 has already been simplified. The sensitive period is one (instead of the previous two) and it covers the period from June 1 to September 30. Then there should be a minimum soil cover on 80% of the farm. There is changes in this standard for those who will grow canola. They will have three weeks to till the soil and plant the crop.

For vines in the sensitive period, it is applied on 50% of the rows. The goal is to have no bare soil, not to turn in the top layer. The grass in the rows can be mowed.

IN Standard 7 until now there was a requirement for crop rotation and rotations. What is new is that people are given the opportunity to diversify crops. Crops are fewer: farms of 10 to 30 hectares will have two crops, with the main crop not exceeding 75% of the cultivated land. In farms over 30 hectares, three crops will be required. The main one should not exceed 75% and the other two 95%. “When you fulfill the requirements under Eco ROK (diversification of cultivated crops), you will have fulfilled this standard as well,” pointed out the expert from the Ministry of Agriculture, Daniel Yordanov.

Many farmers are already moving towards the diversification option, but if someone still chooses to rotate, they cannot switch to diversification for the next three years. Those engaged in the production of feed and organic producers are exempted from ETS 7. Rice is also excluded from this standard.

The conditions for the implementation of the ETS should not be confused with those of the eco-schemes. Under the Eco ROK, four crops are required for farms over 30 hectares.

The requirement to maintain non-production areas – 4%, such as fallows, is removed from the Law on Law No. 8. The hedges, the terraces, the trees, the buffer strips remain. There is also no need for catch crops or nitrogen-fixing crops, which is a huge relief.
