Tommy Körberg underwent heart surgery and was on a ventilator for four days.
The popular artist has come back after the difficult time.
I the program “Malou meets” says wife Anne-Charlotte Körberg about the nasty drama – and the time afterwards.
Tommy Körberg is celebrating his brilliant career this summer – which includes an incredible 50 years on stage – with a big Sweden tour. Then the artist travels around the country with his “Grand Finale” show, which is described as a summary of the star’s career.
The tour will start in Örebro on July 5 and the final in Gävle on August 24 for the singer who has returned after the difficult time in the second half of 2020.
Then Körberg was hospitalized and had to spend months in hospital. The popular artist was forced to receive treatment with the help of a respirator for four days, and heart operations.
Tommy Körberg hovered between life and death
For a while he hovered between life and death.
– That was it. It was because the streptococci started to attack the heart. First there were two flaps and that can be fixed. But when it comes to the heart, it becomes very …, says Tommy Körberg in TV4’s “Malou möter” which is broadcast on Tuesday.
In a previous interview with Nöjeslivet, the star told how he was X-rayed at the hospital and was told that the bacteria had spread to the heart and that the valves needed surgery.
Tommy then explained that the doctors stopped the heart so they could take it apart and then restart it.
– You can say that it has been a journey… We should be happy for the healthcare we have. It takes a while to come back from the trip you’ve made. You become aware that life is fragile, said Körberg then, to Nöjeslivet.
He always had his wife Anne-Charlotte by his side, who tells in the program how the couple went to hospital when she became worried about her husband.
– I was with. I drove him. I got worried because he had a fever for almost two weeks and no other symptoms. It was the same symptom I had when I got sick, so then I started and was persuaded that we should go in and take samples on Friday. On Monday we went into town and then the doctor said: “no, no no”. You don’t even go home. You go straight to the emergency room, says Anne-Charlotte in the program.
The doctors saved Körberg’s life
They both take the opportunity to praise the healthcare system, which they believe is fantastic. Anne-Charlotte also found the contact with care excellent, receiving daily phone calls with updates on her husband’s condition.
She also talks about two female doctors who suspected Körberg’s diagnosis – which she believes may have saved the singer’s life because it led to him being taken from St. Göran’s hospital to Karolinska.
– Then he hurried to Karolinska, she says.

This is how Körberg lives today – his wife’s words about how the star has changed after the nasty drama
Tommy Körberg himself also wants to highlight his wife’s role in his recovery.
– My wife took care of me very well. It was nice to have a person who was in my social vicinity. But I was angry that I got sick too. An anger. But anger can be a good source of recovery, I think, says Tommy Körberg in the program.
At the same time, Anne-Charlotte believes that the husband today – a few years after the dramatic period – has not changed that much.
– Not very much. More clear-sighted perhaps, she says while Tommy nods in agreement.
During the spring, Körberg is also current in the role of Gottfrid in the “Änglagård” musical at the Oscar Theater in Stockholm.
“Malou meets” will be broadcast on Tuesday 23 April at 21.00 on TV4 and TV4 Play. What do you think of the program? Please write a comment!
