Champions League UEFA open to options
The Champions League final has only ever been played in Europe, but that could be set to change.
Football has become increasingly international in recent years, with countries’ respective Super Cups often played overseas, most notably the Italian Super Cup and the Supercopa de Espana.
The Champions League final could now follow suit, according to The Sun. The British newspaper have suggested that Aleksander Ceferin believes that New York’s MetLife Stadium could host the 2025 final.
“Going from Portugal to Azerbaijan, for example, is almost the same as going to New York,” Ceferin said. “For the fans it’s not a problem.”
The MetLife Stadium holds 82,000 people.
