And three for the Chamois Niortais! After the postponements of the matches against Caen and Dunkirk which were to be held on January 8 and 15, it is the turn of the meeting against Grenoble to be postponed. The trip of the Deux-Sévriens scheduled for this Saturday in Isère on behalf of the 22nd day of Ligue 2 is postponed to a later date.
Reason given by the Professional Football League (LFP): the number of cases of covid-19 within the Grenoble workforce. “Following the opinion of the COVID FFF national commission concerning the number of Grenoble Foot 38 players who tested positive and were definitely absent for the match against Chamois Niortais FC, the LFP Competitions Commission (…) decides to postpone the match Grenoble Foot 38- Chamois Niortais FC”said the LFP in a statement.
For Sébastien Desabre’s men, this start to the year looks like a series of false starts. The last league game played by the Deux-Sévriens dates back to December 21. It was a month ago, against Pau. Niort won 3-0.
Faced with this situation, the Deux-Sévrien coach remains a philosopher: “We can tell ourselves that that’s a lot, but we can also tell ourselves that it takes a little longer to work, you have to see the bright side of things. We will see how the team relaunches this second part of the season, will that have an impact or not”.
The next match on the Niortais calendar is scheduled for January 28, a rescheduled meeting against Caen then it will be Dunkirk on Tuesday February 1. If all goes well. “Everyone is waiting to be able to restart this second part of the season.”adds Sébastien Desabre.
The players are working well, are focused. We really hope it will be against Caen next Friday. And we will have a second half of the season as good, or even better than the first, that’s our real objective.
