When you’re on a meteoric rise, sudden fame is sometimes hard to bear. For Alcaraz, this change of life was, and still is, difficult to live with. Alcaraz spoke about this at a press conference at the US Open:
“Well, my life is changing a lot, a lot (smile). It’s probably a different life, talking about how I’m more, say, famous. A lot of people started knowing my name after the US Open last year, for example. Sometimes I like it; sometimes not. Sometimes you want to feel like a normal guy, walk normally. Here in New York, there are a lot of Spaniards, Americans too.
On the other hand, my personal life has not changed at all. I’m the same guy, the normal guy. Obviously, I feel like I’m more mature on the pitch. I feel like a better player than a year ago. »
