GamesVoice command announced, that he will not be involved in Russian voice acting for the game Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. This comes with two issues: First, the voice actors involved in CD Projekt RED’s game may have contractual obligations that prohibit them from collaborating with other studios. Violating such contracts can result in serious legal consequences.
Secondly, the GamesVoice team approached CD Projekt RED with a request for “approval” of their initiative and was refused. The reason for this refusal, according to the developers, is that the creation of third-party voice acting would have a “clear commercial focus.”
The donations that you will need to collect for this dubbing will exceed any reasonable amount, since the Phantom Freedom add-on contains tens of thousands of sound files, and millions of rubles will be required to record them.
Taking these factors into account, the likelihood of unofficial Russian voice acting from third-party studios is extremely low. However, such a statement from the Polish studio may indicate the possibility of official Russian localization of the game in the future. But at the moment the chances of this remain minimal.
Separately, we note that we do not have any information about CD PROJEKT RED’s own plans regarding Russian dubbing, which means we will leave any rumors and speculation on this topic without comment.
