The Challenges of Fame: David Harbour Opens Up About Life After Stranger Things

Stranger Things is one of Netflix’s popular series, if not the most popular. Launched in 2016, this production pays homage to the pop culture of the 80s and 90s while developing its own mythology with its upside down world and its warlike creatures.

In the wake of the success of Stranger Things, the actors and actresses of the show have all become known (Winona Ryder even got a second wind for her declining career). But we know that fame is not all good. Michael Cera, star of Barbiewe learned during an interview.

David Harbor who plays Sheriff Hopper in Stranger Things there too learned the hard way as he explains in an interview for Insider (via ScreenRant) before the writers’ and actors’ strike.

« I don’t want people shouting “Hopper” in the street every 5 minutes »

If David Harbor is sick of being yelled at Hopper in the street, it’s not just because it’s rude. The actor wants to start a new stage in his career at the end of Stranger Things which is coming soon, after season 5. For him, it is necessary to get away from the character so as not to remain locked in it.

The first year of Stranger ThingsI remember a discussion with a press officer who said to me: Maybe you don’t want to be associated with the show too much. and I wondered why. I love this series and the character. It’s the truth. But I don’t just wanna be [Hopper]. I don’t want to be just that guy.

I try to navigate between the two but it’s tricky because you don’t want to disrespect those who love your work that you love yourself. But at the same time, we want to leave the nest. I know I have other things to offer, I want to show it to you. I don’t want people screaming Hopper on the street every 5 minutes until I die.
