The U-23 Indonesian National Team must have minimal strength at the 2023 U-23 AFF Cup, in Thailand. That’s because, they can only use 21 players from the 23 registered.

The two players banned from appearing are Komang Teguh and Titan Agung, both of whom are currently in active suspension for their actions in the 2023 SEA Games final.

Both players were punished by the AFC with a ban on playing in six international matches. Apparently, and it is clear that this penalty also applies to the AFF U-23 Cup.

“The problem is these two people, Titan and Komang. We were also surprised that suddenly on the 14th we received a letter from the AFC reminding us that there was suspend for our players,” said Endri Erawan, manager of the Indonesian national team.

“Because so far, since August 2, we have actually sent a letter to the AFC to get confirmation regarding the two players that we brought. Including Taufany. [Muslihuddin] because it was included in the list of 40 players prepared. But there has been no response,” he continued.

In essence, PSSI has tried to confirm Titan and Komang’s willingness to play in this championship — which incidentally is not on the FIFA calendar. PSSI will try to be careful in its actions, although it will still try to make the two names above appear.

“This means that we explained that this is the official tournament for Southeast Asia. Today (17/8) we have replied, we are still studying from the PSSI legal department, whether the letter allows Titan and Komang to play.”

“After that we will consult with the match commissioner. Because matchcom said it depends on the AFC. We will discuss it again with the legal PSSI and coach Shin Tae-yong.”
