Finding accommodation to rent has today become a real obstacle course, even mission impossible in certain large cities under tension. Tugdual, a student from Mayenne, paid 1,200 euros as a deposit and 490 euros for so-called “deposit insurance” to “block” a rental spotted on the site seloger.com, reports the regional newspaper. The accommodation offered, a one-bedroom apartment for 610 euros per month, a rent a third lower than the market average, should nevertheless have aroused caution. “But it’s such a hassle to find accommodation in Marseille and I was so relieved to have found something that I wasn’t suspicious,” he confides to our colleagues.
