At the beginning of the meeting, the chairman of the council emphasized that the situation in the region as a whole is stable, the spread of the virus has been detected only in one building of Saulkrasti hospital building, where the hospital premises and the Social Care House are located. The trauma center and day hospital premises are currently closed. The work continues at the polyclinic, where the spread of the virus was not detected.
During the meeting, the head of Saulkrasti Hospital Santa Ancāne and the head of the Social Care House Jogita Skujiņa informed about the current situation and the organization of work.
The most difficult situation at the moment is in the Social Care House, where out of 28 patients today – 22 have been diagnosed with Covid-19 positive and only 2 staff members have not been diagnosed with the disease. In part of the existing 15 patients in the hospital, 11 patients and 8 employees are positive for Covid-19.
However, on the positive side that patients are in a stable and vigorous state of health, some clients are worried about changing circumstances and restrictions on going out.
The necessary equipment and disinfectants are currently in sufficient quantities, one-time spectra will be needed in the coming days.
Both the Social Care House and Saulkrasti Hospital need service staff the most at the moment, so we invite people with basic care skills who would be ready to help take care of existing clients today by entering into a temporary employment relationship, Normunds Līcis informed.
In conclusion, the President thanked the staff of the hospital and the Social Care House and emphasized that we could only rely on our own efforts and staff at the moment. In a crisis situation, the cooperation and involvement of all possible services is extremely important, including, for example, offering the Labor Inspectorate a solution in relation to the remuneration of employees, exceeding the number of overtime hours specified in the Labor Law. We understand that the involved state institutions are overloaded, however, the local government wants immediate, accurate up-to-date information from the SPKC in order to be able to act accordingly.
