The Chairman of the Audit Chamber, Dimitar Glavchev, was chosen by President Rumen Radev as a candidate for acting Prime Minister.

Glavchev was appointed to his current post on July 28, 2023 by decision of the 49th National Assembly for a 7-year term.

He was born in Sofia and speaks English and Russian.

The future acting prime minister is an economist by education and one of the key figures of the GERB party, with which he entered politics as an MP back in 2009. His experience in accounting and financial control is over 30 years.

Glavchev participates in the work of a number of committees, including deputy chairman of the Committee on Budget and Finance, while he is a representative in 6 parliaments. He is also the chairman of the 44th National Assembly from April 19, 2017 to November 17, 2017. Glavchev made the decision to resign from his post after tensions arose after the reading of a statement by BSP leader Kornelia Ninova and her subsequent removal from the chamber.

From 2:00 p.m., the head of state will receive Dimitar Glavchev at the presidential institution, in order to instruct him to propose the composition of an interim government.
