New stores of retail chains will be built in the Czech Republic this year as well. For example, residents of České Budějovice, Pardubice, Mladá Boleslav, Děčín or Kolín will see them. See how many new branches and where the most widespread domestic store networks are preparing.
Lidl
Retail chains will continue to grow in the Czech Republic this year. Lidl, for example, is building new stores. “We are still looking for suitable locations for the construction of new stores,” company spokesman Tomáš Myler told TN.cz, stating that the chain is currently building seven new stores with a completion date this year.
“The first store we will open in 2022 will be in Pardubice, SK Neumanna Street. The interesting building we plan to open in 2022 will be the atypical Lidl store in the very center of Prague, in Na Příkopě Street,” the spokesman said.
Kaufland
Kaufland will open four new stores and modernize several existing ones. The next opening of the new branch will be in České Budějovice. “The store in Olomouc, which was opened in 2001, is currently being modernized,” said Kaufland spokeswoman Renata Maierl.
Billa
Billa is also counting on new stores this year. “On average, we plan to open up to 10 new stores this year to offer 300 new jobs. We will continue to introduce small-format stores in cities with less than 3,000 inhabitants and expand partner models such as BILLA stop & shop,” said Dana Bratánková, a spokeswoman for the retail chain.
The next opening of the new branch is planned for the spring, in Mladá Boleslav.
Tesco
Last year, Tesco opened two new stores – a supermarket in Jesenice and a shopping center in Kutná Hora. “This year, Tesco will continue to open its new stores,” said company spokesman Jakub Žižka.
“New stores will open continuously throughout the year, with the proviso that their number should be in the order of units,” he added. Žižka did not specify where the new stores will grow.
Albert
The Albert store network is also growing rapidly. He opened seven new branches last year and completely renovated about three dozen. It will continue at this pace this year. “It is planned to remodel three dozen stores and open several new ones during the year,” said Albert spokesman Jiří Mareček.
The first new store opened this year was the Albert Fresh store in Vršovice, Prague. Fresh Bar with ready meals and fresh sandwiches, but also coffee from its own brand Perla, “said Mareček.
Penny Market
The Penny retail chain boasts almost 400 branches throughout the country and it definitely does not intend to stay at this number. He opened seven new stores last year, and this year he plans to have more than ten. “In the coming weeks, residents of Kolín-Zálabí, Ústí nad Labem or Děčín can look forward to a completely new store with a red-yellow logo,” said company spokesman Tomáš Kubík.
“In addition to the construction of new stores, we also count on the modernization of dozens of existing stores so that the shopping environment is even more pleasant for our customers,” he added.
COOP
The director of development and marketing of the COOP network, Lukáš Němčík, told the TN.cz editorial board that the company is focusing more on modernizing existing branches. “The trend of the time is to modernize and relocate stores to larger premises, rather than opening new ones. Modernization is ongoing and, in principle, given the large number of stores we operate, it is a never-ending process,” he said.
Globus
Globus spokeswoman Aneta Turnovská revealed that the sales network plans to open two new hypermarkets in Central Bohemia within three years. Customers will not see them this year.
