The President of the Gabonese Election Center Michel Stephane Bonda made his proposals for the smooth running of the elections which will take place on August 26, 2023 in Gabon.

Among the proposals given by the president of the Gabonese Elections Center are the presence of two ballot boxes in each polling station. Indeed, the first ballot box will be for the elections of the President of the Republic and of the deputies and the second for the local elections. This will be for the first ballot box a single ballot which will contain the name of the candidate for the presidential election and that of the deputy of his party in the constituency. For independent candidates, the single ballot will only bear the photo of the candidate, without a deputy if he does not have one.

As for the second ballot box, it is made for local elections. The voter will put in the ballot box the list of candidates he wishes to vote to direct his town hall or his departmental assembly. As another proposal, the president of the CGE said that the polling stations will be entitled to three tables to report the results of the count, unlike previous elections. He explains to this effect that: “The three tables, thus highlighted, are dedicated respectively to the display of the results of the election of the President of the Republic, of the deputies to the National Assembly and that of the members of the municipal and departmental councils”explains Michel Stéphane Bonda.

Finally, Michel Stephane Bonda indicated that “the drafting of the minutes will be done according to the usual ritual with, however, the constraint of establishing in each polling station as many copies of the minutes as there are candidates in the running”. Remember that this diagram presented by the CGE is still a simple proposal. To become effective, it must be validated by the government, which will adopt a decree.
