Ile-de-France president Valérie Pécresse orders 20 million masks
The president of the Ile-de-France region, Valérie Pécresse, announced on Monday the order for 20 million protective masks, approaching a “very difficult week”. “The Ile-de-France region is about to live a week, maybe even a very difficult two weeks, and it is imperative to help our healthcare staff who are on the front line”, she explained on franceinfo.
Of the 20 million masks ordered from an AP-HP supplier, 5 million will arrive midweek, she said. “double the number of masks that are given to nursing staff in hospitals, the liberal, but also in nursing homes, humanitarian associations”. Several other regions (Hauts-de-France, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) have already announced orders for masks following a government decree published on Saturday allowing them to take such an initiative .
