The ceramic artist Kaspars Geiduks has gone too early

Kaspars Geiduks, one of the most outstanding representatives of Latvian contemporary ceramics, passed away at the age of 33 on December 2, the Latvian Center for Contemporary Ceramics informed LETA.

In 2013, Geiduks graduated from the University of Latvia with a bachelor’s degree in art and interior design. In 2016, he obtained a master’s degree in visual plastic arts at the Latvian Academy of Arts.

Geiduks has participated in exhibitions since 2011. He organized several solo exhibitions, participated in group exhibitions in Latvia and abroad, represented Latvia at international art symposia in many parts of the world. His works can be found in museum and private collections in Latvia, Belarus, Russia and Switzerland. The artist’s work was characterized by the research of ceramic firing technologies and their passionate and professional use.

In addition to exhibitions and symposia, Geiduk actively participated in national and international competitions, namely in 2017 at the International Ceramics Festival in Mino, Japan, and in 2018 at the European Biennial of Contemporary Ceramics and Glass Art in Bornholm, Denmark. In 2018, he won a bronze award in the national category at the international competition exhibition of the Latvian Ceramics Biennale “Martinson Prize”. In the same year, the performance of Kaspars Geiduks in the large-scale project “100 in Latvian Art” of the Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Center was marked with a solo exhibition award.
