On the occasion of the inauguration of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, the Khalifa Port Expansion Project, the Central Bank of the UAE, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Ports Group, has issued 1,000 commemorative silver coins.
The commemorative coin issuance coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Zayed Port and the 10th anniversary of the opening of Khalifa Port.
The publication aims to highlight the achievements of Abu Dhabi Ports and its role in the development of the maritime sector over the past decades and its importance in promoting economic development. The Port of Khalifa is among the fastest growing ports in the world, capitalizing on its location on one of the largest and most important global trade routes.
The weight of this coin is 60 grams; The front side includes a graphic of the Abu Dhabi Ports Group logo with the name “Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates” written in both Arabic and English.
On the reverse of the coin, it features a drawing of the port, surmounted by the name “Abu Dhabi Ports Group” also in both languages, as well as the words “the 50th anniversary of Zayed Port and the 10th anniversary of Khalifa Port” on the sides upper and lower in both Arabic and English, and the face value of this commemorative coin is 50 dirhams. .
Khalid Mohammed Balama, Central Bank Governor, said, “Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Zayed Port and the 10th anniversary of the opening of Khalifa Port through the issuance of commemorative coins is an appreciation of their efforts and their great contribution to upgrading the port infrastructure of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and strengthening its position as a leading hub regionally and globally. On this occasion, we are delighted to be working and collaborating with Abu Dhabi Ports Group and look forward to further achievements.”
For his part, Falah Mohammed Al Ahbabi, Chairman of the Board of Abu Dhabi Ports Group, said, “The issuance by the UAE Central Bank of coins bearing the name of the Abu Dhabi Ports Group and of two of its most important strategic assets, Zayed Port and Khalifa Port, confirms their leading role in promoting economic development and reflects the group’s success in continuing to develop and modernize them to fulfill their vital role as a gateway to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi for the world, in line with the vision of the wise leadership to establish Abu Dhabi as a global commercial, industrial and logistics hub.
