The Good Guide
Established two years ago, this charming hotel has enhanced the development of its neighborhood. It has also just received two Michelin keys which reward the excellence of its service and its local roots.
Sometimes, all it takes is a little motivation to change a neighborhood. In New York, on the lower east side, theNine Orchard Hotel play this role. Located east of Chinatown, in an enclave wedged between a major road artery and the East River, known as Dimes Square by those in the know, the neighborhood seems difficult to access. The sidewalks are a bit dirty, the open spaces are full of trees… We are far from the bohemian atmosphere of the West Village or Tribeca. But, behind those first impressions, the cool is hiding…

Those who know…
The Nine Orchard occupies an entire block, set within the massive walls of a former bank, which has been reincarnated as a boutique hotel. Here, no doormen or a splendid porch under which shelter can be found in case of rain. This hotel, which opens in mid-2022, reflects a more authentic New York, where you will quickly feel at home. The atmosphere is subdued, the decoration plays on Art Deco codes, while paying homage to the grandiose heritage of the 1912 building.
If the Central Park environment attracts famous people and big bosses, the Nine Orchard attracts a more distinguished clientele. Come in Lower East Side It’s a choice, and being seen at Nine Orchard sometimes means more than a picture in the newspaper. During our trip, at breakfast – don’t miss the Breakfast sandwichkind of a perfect little burger to start a high mileage day – on our right, a fashion editor, on our left, an actor with experience in movies India immersed in the New York Times. At the Corner Bar, like everywhere else in the hotel, everyone comes together to be anonymous.

Nine Orchard: Rebirth
When the Nine Orchard team took possession of the building, the old bank was a shadow of its former self, overwhelmed by attempts to modernize it. A false ceiling hid the grandeur of the main hall: once it collapsed, the architects discovered precious details covered in a layer of baby blue paint. To restore the building’s past glory, an architectural historian was entrusted with one of the rare surviving drawings, making sure to recreate it as closely as possible the original feel of today.
The result is amazing: the Nine Orchard combines subtlety and grandeur. Arrival is in a compact and comfortable lobby with a low ceiling that invites silence. But by turning to the right, another side opens up: the old cellar room, with its impressive vaults, presents its rediscovered beauty.

Ask for a room on higher floors. Ours, located on the twelfth floor, offered a spectacular view of the Financial District, far from the panoramic views of Central Park. The bed was comfortable, lots of attention: cookies, fresh fruit and background music to mark our arrival, reminding us, as the young woman at reception told us, that a semi-automatic sound system mobile at every room connect your favorite music app. If you prefer to get out of your room to work, the second floor lounge is a must. His fireplace has already made the rounds on Instagram. The furniture, antique, large, full of details that resemble the complexity of the architecture of the beginning of the century, gives an additional soul to the place that makes the Nine Orchard an address outside of a hotel.
And for those who do not have enough, riding the movement of address addressthe Nine Orchard just launched the catalog NO Shop offers all derivative products related to the brand.

Our good addresses around the hotel
A stay at Nine Orchard is also an immersion in mystical New York. Orchard Street, where locals meet, is home to some of the city’s most popular addresses. There’s Desert Vintage, an unmarked luxury second-hand store, and Scarr’s Pizza, known for its Italian-style slices. Around the corner from the hotel, on Division Street, Kiki’s, a Greek restaurant, is always full – the queue speaks for itself.

Kiki’s
Found by chance and thanks to the line that stretched along its side, this Greek hotel is worth going because there are no places in New York. Large, airy, with a terrace, this restaurant, which is just quiet during the shooting season, is worth going to thanks to a menu that is very faithful to the genre and at an affordable price.
