What happened?
This Monday, August 23, the deadline to register the candidacies in the Servel for the parliamentary elections of next November expires and several celebrities are running for Parliament in different areas of Chile.
Check out below the names that are presented and who seek to take advantage of their fame to get their ideas to more voters.
Christian Pino Lanata
The also journalist will seek to be a parliamentarian for the first time, running as candidate for deputy in District 8, which includes the communes of Cerrillos, Colina, Estación Central, Lampa, Maipú, Pudahuel, Quilicura and Tiltil.

Victor Hugo Castañeda
The former soccer player and former coach of Deportes La Serena, Víctor Hugo Castañeda, announced his candidacy as a deputy for the Coquimbo region.
The ex-Chilean candidate already ran for a popular election position last May, when he was a candidate for mayor of La Serena, reaching 22.08% of the votes and not being able to defeat Roberto Jacob, current communal chief.

Maria Luisa Cordero
The psychiatrist will present herself as a candidate for deputy (independent in RN quota) for District 10, which includes the communes of The farm, Macul, Ñuñoa, Providencia, San Joaquin and Santiago.
The professional already ran as a constituent candidate for District 12 (in UDI quota) last May, reaching 4.0% and failing to be elected.
Cristian Contreras
The character known as “Dr. File“He will finally run for the Senate for the Metropolitan Region after having speculated with his presidential candidacy representing his party, United center.
Pamela Jiles
The journalist, current deputy for District 12, will stand for reelection after speculating about a possible Senate candidacy and even leading some polls ahead of the presidential election.
“I am going to reelection as a deputy for District 12, for my beloved communes of La Pintana, High Bridge, Florida, Pirque and San José de Maipo“was the message with which the former opinionologist announced her decision on her Twitter account.

This will be the Jiles’ third nomination for Congress after losing in 2009 in her attempt to be a deputy for the then District 45 (Coronel, Florida, Hualqui, Penco, Santa Juana and Tomé) and obtaining her first election in 2017 with the third majority in District 12, behind Ximena Ossandón and Camila vallejo.
Luciano Cruz-Coke
After a stint as a congressman for District 10, the actor Luciano Cruz-Coke will seek a new parliamentary adventure, now as candidate for senator for the Metropolitan Region.
Sebastian Keitel
After being a deputy for District 9 (Cerro Navia, Conchalí, Huechuraba, Independencia, Lo Prado, Quinta Normal, Recoleta and Renca), the former athlete will now seek to be a senator for the Biobío region in the Evópoli quota.
