The refusal decision is subject to appeal before the Supreme Court within three days
The Central Election Commission (CEC) refused to register a change in the composition of the “Continuing the Change – Democratic Bulgaria” coalition, registered with Commission Decision No. 1662-NS of February 15, 2023. The decision was published on the CEC website, which is meeting tonight.
The CEC still has no clarity on how the video surveillance of the elections will work
At 5:40 p.m., the CEC received an application from “Continuing Change – Democratic Bulgaria”, signed by coalition representatives Kiril Petkov, Asen Vassilev, Hristo Ivanov and Atanas Atanasov, submitted by attorney Martin Babarov, with which a change in composition was requested for registration of the coalition, expressed in the joining of the political party “UNITED FARMERS”, the information states. The application was filed in the register of coalitions in the lot of the coalition “Continuing the Change – Democratic Bulgaria” under No. 4a on February 25, 2023.
The court annulled the decision of the CEC on the mixed counting of votes
According to Art. 144, para. 1 and para. 2 of the Election Code, changes in the composition of a coalition, which occurred after its registration, are carried out after submitting an application and presenting a decision on the changes and the relevant documents no later than 35 days before the election day, the CEC writes. With the chronogram and item 46 of Decision No. 1595-NS of February 6, 2023, adopted by Decision No. 1583-NS of February 2, 2023, a deadline has been set for submitting the documents for making changes in the composition of a coalition – 17: 00:00 on February 25, 2023. The documents were received after the expiration of this period, of which the submitter was expressly notified, and this circumstance was entered in the CEC Register, the text emphasizes.
The refusal decision is subject to appeal before the Supreme Administrative Court through the CEC within three days of its announcement, it says.
