The Central Election Commission refused to register a change in the composition of the “Continuing the Change – Democratic Bulgaria” coalition.
At 5:40 p.m., the CEC received an application from “Continuing Change – Democratic Bulgaria”, signed by coalition representatives Kiril Petkov, Asen Vassilev, Hristo Ivanov and Atanas Atanasov, submitted by attorney Martin Babarov, with which a change in composition was requested for registration of the coalition expressed in joining the political party “UNITED FARMERS“, the information states. The application was filed in the register of coalitions in the lot of the coalition “Continuing the Change – Democratic Bulgaria” under No. 4a on February 25, 2023.

According to the Election Code, changes in the composition of a coalition, which occurred after its registration, are carried out after submitting an application and presenting a decision on the changes and the relevant documents no later than 35 days before the election day, argue the CEC.
The deadline for submitting the documents for making changes in the composition of a coalition is expired at 17:00 on February 25, 2023. The documents were received after the expiration of this period, of which the submitter was expressly notified, and this circumstance was entered in the CEC Register.
The court annulled the decision of the CEC on the mixed counting of votes in the elections
The decision on refusal is subject to appeal before the Supreme Administrative Court within three days of its announcement.
