The CDEF is committed to continuing education

Operating 24/7, this emergency shelter welcomes up to 600 young people aged 0 to 21. It mobilizes 800 agents and offers emergency reception systems to meet the varied needs of children and young people.

From MOOCs to face-to-face training

To meet the challenges of child protection, the CDEF institute offers a range of training that can be immediately transposed into the field. Short online training courses, thanks to MOOCs, allow agents to access independent learning. Since their launch, these MOOCs have welcomed more than 12,000 participants, with an attendance of 200 to 300 people each month.

Face-to-face training focuses on essential themes such as “Taking a position in child protection” and “Sexual transgressions”. Longer, these last two days per month for a year.

For Vincent, an educational instructor for a year at the CDEF institute, and Hélène, head of the educational department with more than ten years of experience in an association, these training courses offer an in-depth understanding of the challenges in the field. Vincent underlines the importance of this training in understanding all aspects of child protection. Hélène, for her part, appreciates the possibility of directly applying the knowledge acquired.

When we arrive in the social sector, we often have our heads on the handlebars. Training allows you to take a step back and quickly implement the identified needs.

Train professionals

According to Claire Hangouët, temporary trainer for 3 years and specialist educator for 20 years, professional training meets specific needs. As part of its intervention on training in educational writing, it is based on theories, methodologies, the regulatory framework, recommendations for good professional practices, as well as practical exercises and the sharing of experiences.

Its objective is to make participants active in their learning, to help them take a step back from their professional practice and to enable them to develop skills which can subsequently be put into practice in their workplace.

It brings me a lot to myself. They help me improve and everyone brings their own experience. It’s a real wealth of sharing.

The training offer from the CDEF institute

The CDEF institute’s training offering is constantly evolving to adapt to the needs of childcare professionals. The testimonies of Vincent, who wishes to continue training in all aspects of social issues, and Hélène, who underlines the importance of comprehensive training for new professionals, highlight the desire to strengthen skills in the service of children.

These training courses, whether online or in person, are essential to energize daily work, provide perspective and enhance the skills of professionals. They make it possible to improve the support of young people, to strengthen their safety and the approach to children.

Each professional brings their specialties and we mix theory and practice. The atmosphere is great, we trust each other, no judgment. This allows you to see the Department’s services from another angle.
