The CCCC Music Lab of the Center del Carme is presented at the Primavera Pro in Barcelona

The incubator for emerging musical talent at the Center del Carme, the CCCC Music Lab, will be presented this week at Primavera Pro, in the hybrid version of the Primavera Sound music festival in Barcelona that will be held from June 2 to 6 at the Center de Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB).

The CCCC project, which seeks to promote young creation in its musical career, has been selected by the international festival within its Ideas Showroom section, which is offered virtually.

The big multinationals are not alone in making decisions about the future of music. In these tentacular processes different ideas coexist that reformulate the spaces of culture and leisure. With the intention of linking all these initiatives, Primavera Pro and Catalan Arts, the internationalization channel for cultural companies promoted by the Institut Català de les Empreses Culturals (ICEC), present Ideas Showroom.

Since 2013, the proposals selected in the Ideas Showroom are presented in the hall of the Center de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB), but in 2021 and taking advantage of the hybrid format of this edition, the audiovisual capsules of the selected projects, among which is located in the CCCC Music Lab, they can be consulted on the virtual platform by all professionals and accredited persons.

The director of the CCCC, José Luis Pérez Pont, has expressed his satisfaction for “being part of a meeting that every year brings together professionals from the music industry and that has become a benchmark for the sector. We participate with a project such as CCCC Music Lab that has just started and has been selected by the festival for its innovative nature “.

The Center del Carme Cultura Contemporània (CCCC) of València, in its line of experimentation with new projects around the living arts, presents CCCC Music Lab, an incubator for emerging musical talent where you can experiment with new cultural formats.

The project begins with the launch of a public call, open until June 28, which will select the projects that will be part of the program. In total, six talents will be chosen who will have a space for development, training and creative support in the CCCC.

Through different workshops, musical actions and conferences on the music industry that will take place between the months of July 2021 and April 2022, CCCC Music Lab aims to support the training, projection and growth of the selected artists, as well as accompany them, supported by a gradual methodology adapted to the needs of each one. At the end of the program, the jury will select two of the participants, who will be able to record a single.

Open convocatory

Musical projects, collective or individual, of any style, which are currently without a record label or a contract in force with another artistic development company, may be eligible for the call.

At least half of the selected projects will be for artists born or resident in the Valencian Community.

For the evaluation and selection of the submitted applications, a jury has been set up made up of Victoria Fenoll, director of Kos Entertainment and ATM Andrea Bocelli; Ignacio Gallego, doctor in Communication Sciences and director of the Master of Music Industry and Sound Studies at the Carlos III University of Madrid; Santiago Cano, founder and manager of Caballito Records; María Eguizabal, director of Vanana Records; Luis Fernández, CEO of Sonido Muchacho; Joan Guàrdia, founder and head of La Castanya; Nara Pinto, Mad Cool festival; Ede, independent artist, and José Luis Pérez Pont, director of the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community.

The jury will make a shortlist of ten projects, including a series of interviews in which the dynamics of the project will be communicated, doubts and concerns will be shared and mutual needs and commitments will be shared. The objective of this phase is to verify and strengthen compatibility with the project’s general schedule and dynamics.

While the interviews are taking place, the ten shortlisted projects will be made public on the Center del Carme’s Instagram profile (cccc_centredelcarme), where a fragment of the musical performances provided by each participant will be published to proceed to a popular vote from which the first final project selected. The chosen project will be the one that I like the most on the Center del Carme’s Instagram feed (no votes will be counted outside the art center’s official profile).

After this phase, the jury will select another five final projects and four will remain as reserves in the event that any of those selected resigns.

The expected date to announce the selected projects is July 12, 2021.
