Native Saint-Maurice-du-Desert, Lucie Hardy, 29 years old, welcomes you with a big smile in this space of 32 m2 where she offers a trip in France and abroad through wines.
“In my family, we are great epicureans and there have always been good bottles at the table for the education of the palate”, confides the young wine merchant.
A rich journey
After passing an STG marketing baccalaureate at Andaines high school of La Ferte-Maceand a few months in the faculty of sociology, Lucie joined Avignon hotel school where she obtained after 2 years a baccalaureate in marketing and service in catering.
“At the age of 21, I passed a professional sommelier certificate in Beaune in Burgundy. For nine months, I traveled around France meeting the winegrowers”.
The young woman is then recruited at the Lys Manor. “For 18 months, I was assistant to head sommelier Yvon Lebailly, who was my mentor”.
Her career then continued in Melbourne, Australia, where she worked alongside the head sommelier of Heston Blumenthal’s restaurant. “I stayed there for just over three years and obtained my international sommelier diploma”. Back in France in March 2020, Lucie is doing a new season at the Manoir du Lys “and it was since last December that I took the steps to settle in and open a cellar. I’ve wanted it for a long time.”
“A wide and accessible range”
Last Thursday, June 9, his wish came true with the opening of “La Cave Harditine”.
This is the name that a friend had given to the liqueur that I had created in Australia, pretending that it was a very famous drink in France
On the shelves, wines from all regions are presented to customers: red, white, rosé. “I offer a fairly wide and accessible range, with prices ranging from €6.50 to €100 a bottle. I work in particular with producers who are committed to an organic approach”.
In the shop, there are also champagnes, port and maury. “In addition, I have a space with local products: Champin beer from Juvigny, cider products from Adrien Sallard from La Ferté-Macé. Eventually, I also want to develop a section of European wines”. A knowledgeable sommelier, Lucie will be able to advise you on food and wine pairings. “At first, I target a clientele of individuals, tourists, curists. For the restaurants, I will see later,” she concludes.
