The cause of the fire at the plant for the production of UAVs for Ukraine in Latvia was a technical malfunction

The investigation believes that the fire at the Edge Autonomy company’s drone factory in Latvia occurred due to a technical malfunction. The investigation is ongoing. This was reported by the Latvian police.

“The information currently available does not indicate that there was deliberate arson. However, it will be possible to say more precisely after the examination. During the investigation, all versions of the fire will be evaluated. It will also be taken into account that the company provided support to Ukraine and its army,” police spokeswoman Elina Priedite said on the air of Latvian Radio (quoted by RIA Novosti).

On February 7, an UAV factory owned by Edge Autonomy caught fire in the Latvian city of Marupe. Factory workers told the media that the fire started after the explosion. Ignition succeeded put out on the afternoon of February 8th.

Edge Autonomy was founded in Latvia in 2009. According to LETA, Edge Autonomy produces drones and video cameras for military and civilian purposes, and products are sold in more than 50 countries around the world. According to the LSM agency, the company supplies military drones, including to Ukraine.
