JAKARTA – Hereditary players Indonesia-Dutch, Mees Hilgers, had thought that naturalized players should play in Indonesia. PSSI Executive Committee (Exco) member Hasani Abdulgani also explained to him that this was not true.
The Dutch descent player thinks so because of the many naturalized players who until now have played with Indonesian clubs. For example, Ezra Walian, Raphael Maitimo, and Stefano Lilipaly.
However, Hasani Abdulgani has denied this. He emphasized that PSSI is more supportive of naturalized players to continue their career with European clubs.
“No (must play in Indonesia). We want them to continue playing in Europe,” said Hasani Abdulgani when contacted by MNC Portal Indonesia, Monday (10/1/2022).

Currently, there are four names of hereditary players who are still in the naturalization process. Besides Mees Hilgers, there are three other players, namely, Sandy Walsh, Jordi Amat, and Ragnar Oratmangoen.
Hasani Abdulgani also ensured that PSSI did not encounter any obstacles in the naturalization process of the four players. Even so, he emphasized that PSSI still needs time.
