In order to make the projects carried out by teachers with the collaboration of students known to the community in general, the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil (UCSG) is currently carrying out the research week, an unprecedented initiative in the 60s of life. institution of the higher center.

As part of the programming, this Monday, October 17, the authorities officially presented the UCSG Divulga channel on the platform Youtube.

There, for a period of three months, audiovisual capsules will be published weekly with the results of various surveys under the heading Investigation with impact. The videos last from 3 to 6 minutes.

And the following works are currently available: Production and biochemical characterization of enzymatic hydrolyzate, obtained from peach waste, treatment of juvenile acne with platelet-rich plasma.

Ecuadorian Antarctic Refuge, the influence of learning on the quality of the global assessment process and a video game of the Manteño-Huancavilca culture for users from the age of 12 are other projects.

Nancy Wong, Vice Chancellor for Research and Postgraduate Studies, stressed that the research week aims to create a space for discussion between the different voices involved in scientific and applied research.

“We have some issues that the community, Guayaquil, needs to listen to, to know that we are working on it, because we want to become allies with companies, organizations to carry out investigations, so we want to reveal some capsules through this channel (YouTube)”, he commented. .

In a first three-month phase, fourteen audiovisuals will be published, but the idea is to gradually disseminate more projects.

Walter Mera, rector of the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil, stressed that scientific research is important to the extent that it contributes to solving the problems of society. Hence, the superior center has a scientific circle consisting of 130 students and 35 tutor teachers, an extra-curricular instance of volunteering.

“Every year we have organized a student research competition called Tecnocatol and very interesting projects have sprung out of it,” he said.

For her part, Nancy Wong, Vice Chancellor for Research and Postgraduate Studies, indicated that a research week will now be organized every year. Provisionally, it would be the last week of October.

UCSG currently has 8 faculties and 36 majors.
