The Catholic Church in Colombia has produced the names of 26 monks underneath investigation for sexual violence versus minors or young children pedophilia. The archdiocese of Medellin unveils the checklist of names of monks suspected of committing violence sexual intercourse from 1995 to 2019.
Described by AFPSunday (08/28/2022), the names of the monks were being released in response to a courtroom ruling in favor of Juan Pablo Barrientos, a journalist investigating an alleged network of pedophile monks.
“(The archdiocese of Medelin – ed) desires to display transparency, motivation to the truth and that there is no intent for the include-ups”, said the archbishop of Medellin, Monsignor Ricardo Tobon.

In a movie posted on the Twitter account of the archdiocese of Medellin, the spiritual figure accused Barrientos of acquiring conducted an “aggressive smear marketing campaign against the Church”.
In the meantime, in accordance to Juan Pablo Barrientos, the Church has disclosed the names for the reason that the Constitutional Court has compelled them.
“Most of these monks … experienced earlier been suspended for a whilst, but they are back to becoming clergymen once more,” stated Barrientos, who has been investigating sexual assaults by monks for a long time, in a video released Saturday. .
