PERUGIA – The Minister for Disabilities Alessandra Locatelli presented the first G7-Inclusion and Disability to be held in Umbria on 14,15 and 16 October 2024 in the Bruschi Hall of the Prefecture of Perugia.
“For the first time in the world at ministerial level, the G7 countries will also discuss the issues of inclusion and disability. It will be an extraordinary opportunity to share strategies and commitments, but also to enhance Italy’s experience. Furthermore, for the first time a G7 will “open to the public”. On 14 October, the day of welcoming the delegations, will take place in the square of Assisi with a public event. It will be a day dedicated to welcoming, meeting, the associative world, families and everyone will be able to participate.
The G7 inclusion and disability will continue on 15 and 16 October in Solfagnano, in the province of Perugia, where the preparatory day and the ministerial meeting will take place according to more formal canons”.
“I imagine a concrete and operational G7 – underlined Minister Locatelli -. The objective is to change the perspective and move from inclusion to the valorization of people, guaranteeing everyone’s right to full participation in the civil, social and political life of our countries. It is a great challenge and a commitment for the future. We all need to improve ourselves and do more from an institutional point of view, but also from the point of view of the private world and individual citizens. This is not something that concerns a few people but all our communities, who must feel involved and adopt a new outlook.”
“The Italian G7 on disability must not remain an isolated experience – continued the Minister -. We are working with all our colleagues to ensure support for the next G7 which will be chaired by Canada, to also introduce the theme of inclusion in the next G20 and so that the issues that concern people will receive ever more attention and relevance in all high-level discussions level”.
