Tonight, at the Russian-Latvian border, Zakhtey was met by a delegation of the Ukrainian Embassy in Latvia.
The publication reports that when Zakhtey was arrested, his daughter was 7 months old, now the girl is 7 years old.
Case of Zakhtey
Andrey Zakhtey was detained by the Russian FSB in August 2016. Then the Russian special service announced the detention of a group of allegedly Ukrainian saboteurs in the annexed Crimea, who were allegedly preparing terrorist attacks on the peninsula. The detainees were kept for some time in the Moscow pre-trial detention center in Lefortovo, after which they were returned to Crimea.
Russian intelligence agencies said that Yevgeny Panov and Andrey Zakhtey, who were detained in this case, planned to carry out terrorist attacks on the objects of the tourist and social infrastructure of the peninsula.
Zakhtey signed a pre-trial agreement with the investigation. He was sentenced to 6 years and 6 months in a strict regime colony, as well as a fine of 220,000 rubles (about 105,000 hryvnias).
The Ukrainian authorities denied Russian accusations against Ukrainians and called them a provocation by the Russian special services.
Recall that the other day in Rostov-on-Don, a court sentenced to 15 years in a penal colony the Crimean artist and activist Bogdan Zizu, who protested against Russian aggression in Ukraine.
