On Thursday morning, problems arose at all Ica stores around the country, when it was suddenly not possible to pay with an ATM card.
– Shopping was fine until we inserted the card, then it was not possible to pay, says Ann Palmgren Rosendahl, who shopped at an Ica store in Skellefteå.
Several of the staff had to stand at each checkout
There, customers were helped to the best of their ability.
– We have had two to three members of staff at each checkout to help customers, says Peter Jonsson, the ICA dealer.
In total, there were two customers who could not pay for their goods, the rest could be resolved with the help of swish, app or cash.
– It’s about an internal problem in our payment systems caused by the fact that today is leap day, said Maria Elfvelin, press communicator at the Ica group.
By lunchtime, payment was working as usual again.
