the card brings over $ 6 per day

Ahead of the release of the GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card NVIDIA reportedthat has developed a special mechanism to track attempts to mine Ethereum using a GPU, which, when detected, automatically reduces the productivity of mining cryptocurrency by about half. By design, this should make mining with the GeForce RTX 3060 unprofitable, but in reality it turns out that the video card may still be in demand among miners.

Crypto blogger from Georgia Levan Beruchashvili conducted testing ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 3060 Twin Edge video card in mining, which confirmed a real decrease in its performance when mining Ethereum by about 50% relative to the expected value. However, as noted by the blogger, this only applies to Ethereum, but does not apply to other cryptocurrencies.

Beruchashvili conducted a test of mining Conflux cryptocurrency on the Octopus algorithm on a GeForce RTX 3060 and got good results. If, when mining Ethereum, the hash rate quickly drops from 45-50 to 22-27 Mhesh / s, then when mining Conflux, the hash rate, as expected, reaches about 45 Mhesh / s. As a result, with the help of the GeForce RTX 3060, you can mine Conflux at the rate of $ 6.52 per day.

The blogger also checked the capabilities of the GeForce RTX 3060 for mining a number of other virtual currencies, including Aeternity (AE) and Beam (BEAM), and came to the conclusion that the performance loss of the video card is not so critical as to talk about its inefficiency for mining. On successful algorithms, the video card is able to bring its owner over $ 6 daily. That is, taking into account the recommended price of $ 329, this video card will pay off in the hands of a skilled miner in less than two months.

In other words, NVIDIA has slowed down Ethereum mining on the GeForce RTX 3060, but the restriction does not apply to other cryptocurrencies. And this is disappointing news for gamers: this time NVIDIA did not succeed in making a video card that would not be of interest to crypto-raters.
