The carbon-free sailboat Grain de Sail delivers wine to New York from Saint-Malo

The sailboat of the Finistère company Grain de Sail left the port of Saint-Malo on Tuesday April 12, 2022 to deliver several thousand bottles of wine and champagne to New York.

The Grain de Sail is the first modern cargo sailboat to meet Merchant Navy standards. Above all, it reduces carbon dioxide emissions by up to 97%. In the holds, several thousand bottles of wine and champagne will be delivered to New York. The sailboat will be back in three months with 35 tonnes of cocoa and 2 tonnes of coffee from Peru and the Dominican Republic in its hold.

A freighter twice as long will be launched in 2024.
