The car that puts Tesla and Bugatti to shame when it comes to speed

As technology advances, so do automobiles. When we think of pure speed, a few names come to mind, names like Bugatti or Tesla.

However, one company wants to challenge Tesla and dethrone the Model S Plaid. We are talking about Lucid, an American manufacturer of electric cars. Its rival for the Tesla Model S is the Air sedan, in this case its most powerful variant, called the Sapphire.

Automotive journalist Jason Cammisa I wanted to find out if the Lucid Air Sapphire could dethrone the Tesla Model S Plaid as the fastest accelerating car. To make things even more interesting, he also brought into play a Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport, the fastest accelerating internal combustion engine car.

Could the Lucid Air Sapphire be faster than the Tesla Model S Plaid?

The Lucid Air Sapphire has, like the Model S Plaid, three electric motors, but which develop over 1200hp, while the Tesla has only 1020hp.

Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport It’s a true monster of the automotive world. The hypercar mounts an 8-litre 16-piston engine, supercharged with 4 turbines, for a total power of 1479 HP. But is it enough to keep up with electric super sedans?

The Lucid Air Sapphire crossed the finish line first, completing the 400m in just 9.1 seconds, a new record for a production car. The 0-100 was done in just 2.1 seconds and, at the time of crossing the finish line, the car had a speed of 251 km/h.

The Tesla finished third, 0.2 seconds behind the Lucid, behind the Bugatti Chiron. Both the Tesla Model S and the Bugatti Chiron crossed the finish line in 9.3 seconds.

Thus, a sedan capable of carrying four adults in luxurious conditions managed to beat a hypercar costing several million euros. We will now see what the future holds for Bugatti works alongside the Croatian manufacturer Rimac.
