The Puma SUV produced by the Americans from Ford in Craiova was the model that recorded the most sales in the first three months of 2021, on the domestic market, according to the latest data published by the Directorate of Driving Permits and Vehicle Registration (DRPCIV).
In the first three months of this year, 648 Puma SUV units were registered in our country, being by far the biggest success registered in Romania by a car model.
By comparison, in the same period last year, only 94 Puma SUV units were registered in our country, but it seems that 2021 brought Romanians an increased appetite for this car model.
Currently, due to the exponential growth in the first part of the year, Ford Puma occupies the second in the Mini utility segment in Romania, with a market share of 14.45%.

Ford Puma leads the ranking of the best-selling models from Ford, but we also have two competitors, the second and third place occupants, who also recorded notable performances: Ford Focus, with 436 registered units and a share of 10.48% of the segment compact cars and Ford Kuga, with 9.9% of the share of the small utilitiy segment.
Also, the best-selling engine of the Ford Puma in the first quarter of this year is the 1.0 mild hybrid 125 hp, with the Titannium equipment level and in the color “Desert Island”.
The car industry is declining, but Ford Romania has consolidated its position on the market
Although the car market was affected by the coronavirus pandemic in our country as well, with significant decreases in general, Ford Romania managed to consolidate its position on the market, increasing the company’s market share by 3.94 %, thus reaching a total share of 10.88%.
For the first three months of 2021, the level of new car registrations in Romania was decreasing sharply (-25.79%) compared to the similar period of 2020, with only 20,762 units.
